32 Weeks!

We've had another great week in snowy northern Indiana, and we even got to share another snow day at home together due to Alex's work (and nearly every other business) being closed! We put our time to good use and got the rest of the nursery furniture assembled, which is super exciting! Here is a picture of me being an excellent assistant during the crib build:

Clearly I was an integral part of the assembly process. :)

And here is Alex's finished product:

It's so exciting to see all the pieces come together and to know that we're getting closer every day to meeting our sweet little boy!
This week we visited the hospital where baby K will be born with our Childbirth Education class. We toured the hospital earlier in our pregnancy, but this time we had a lot more specific questions, and it all felt quite a bit less overwhelming. I think we're just feeling more prepared now as it's all sinking in and feeling more "real". We can't wait!!!
And for the belly photos:

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a large jicama! (He's about 4 pounds!!!)
  • He is still moving around a ton and getting hiccups frequently.
  • I have not had much of an appetite lately, but I'm trying to keep nourished with daily smoothies!
And for a bonus shot, here's our sweet fur baby working hard on getting ready for baby K:

31 Weeks!

So sorry for the delay in posting this week! We've been keeping busy, and our usual Tuesday night photo shoot didn't happen until last night! Here's 31 weeks (and 2 days) in all its glory:

This week's updates:

  • Baby K is the size of a pineapple!
  • He gets hiccups at least once a day every day!
  • I have definitely entered the phase of pregnancy where sleep is hard to come by. As someone who has always been exceptionally talented at sleeping, this is a super bizarre adjustment.
  • Thanks to Alex, I enjoyed a prenatal massage this week, which was heavenly! I'm so thankful for my sweet and thoughtful husband!!!

House Photos: 1st Installment

We have been meaning to share some photos of our house for a really long time, and we FINALLY got around to remembering to take some. :) Everything is still a work in progress, but we're really starting to feel settled (thank goodness!). Here are some photos of the main level of our house:

our tiny Christmas tree!

It was super bright out today, so you can't really see details, but when you walk in the front door, you can see straight through the entryway, eat-in-kitchen, and 3-season-porch to the golf course in the backyard. There are tons of squirrels running around all the time and I love it!

There's also a half bath and our laundry room on this level, too. Whew, that's a lot of pictures! We plan to share photos of the upstairs and the basement in the near future as well. :) Thanks for touring our new house!!!! Now come visit! :)

30 Weeks!

I cannot even believe that I am 75% done with my pregnancy!!!!!! That is both a thrilling and nerve-wracking realization, to say the least. :) This week, Alex and I (mostly Alex) assembled our sweet boy's dresser, and I've started doing my first loads of his laundry. Ahhhh! I also ordered a box of 234 diapers…which I hope will get us through a few weeks at least. Maybe? Hopefully? :) Here are a couple of pictures of Alex's handiwork:

Also this week, we attended our first Childbirth Education class, and we loved it! Our instructor is incredible, and we've met some fun couples who are due around the same time we are. Our instructor mentioned that now that we're in this class together, we're all bonded together and we'll surely be seeing each other around in the community. Alex was skeptical of that, but we actually did run into one of the couples at our church on Sunday. They invited us to join their small group the next day, which was so great! It was really wonderful to connect with a great group of folks all in the same stage of life as we are, and we so appreciate them welcoming us so warmly. We're excited to start building up our community in our new space.

And now for the belly:

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a cucumber!
  • He's now strong enough to grasp a finger!
  • I have been eating kale like a fool this week! I can't get enough kale smoothies, salads, and soups!
And for a bonus photo, Alex just completed assembling our new stroller system and infant car seat as I typed! Huzzah!

29 Weeks!

We have enjoyed getting settled back into our routines at home this week, and we've been especially thankful for two glorious snow days which have kept Alex at home! We've watched lots of movies, and I've done a lot of reading while Alex has made significant progress on his new video games. :) We've also managed to do some work on the nursery, and we'll be sure to post pictures in the near future! Baby K has kept busy by doing even more growing!

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a butternut squash! Ahhhh!
  • In the next 11 weeks, he should double or triple his current weight!
  • Many of my "cravings" have subsided as of late, and I'm just super thirsty for water a lot of the time.
  • We start our Childbirth Education classes tomorrow, and we're excited to learn a lot!

28 Weeks!

Our holiday festivities have continued this week, and we are so thankful to have had this chance to see family and friends who we miss so much in Minnesota!

We are also especially thankful to have attended our first baby shower for sweet Baby K! It means so much to us to be so lovingly supported by family and friends who are excited to celebrate our tiny nugget, and we appreciate all of the generous gifts we received in preparation for his arrival. It's completely wild to think that he will be here in approximately 12 weeks, and we've definitely got some nursery projects to keep us busy in the meantime. :)

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of an eggplant!!
  • I officially felt our sweet baby have hiccups for the first time!
  • We learned that our baby's sleep now includes the REM phase, which means he could already be having dreams!
  • My love of chocolate (and all other things sweet) continues!
