36 Weeks!

We are getting so excited to meet our sweet boy!! We've spent much of the past week preparing the nursery a bit more, and picking up some of those lingering items on our list. Online ordering makes for super fun mail throughout the week!!! :) This week, we're hoping to get a pediatrician picked out, too. It feels good to pull all these details together!

heyyyyyyy, belly. :)

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a honeydew & is likely close to 6 pounds!!
  • His liver and kidneys should be in working order now, and his circulation and immune system should be set to go, too!
  • Alex has noticed that I've officially started waddling a bit these days. Who knew it could be so tricky to get around???
  • I continue to mostly crave water…and chocolate. :)
  • I'm SO excited to finish up the nursery and share some photos soon!!!!!!

35 Weeks!

 35 Weeks!!!!!!

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a coconut!
  • Our sweet boy has finally flipped!!! Up until now, he was breech, but as of today's doctor visit, he's turned himself around, which is super exciting!!!
  • I still don't have much of an appetite, but am just really thirsty for water and sweet tea all the time.
  • Our hospital bags are packed, and the car seat bases are installed and ready to go! Hopefully we won't need these for a few more weeks, but we're ready just in case.

34 Weeks!

Wow…I've never before noticed how close 34 feels to 40. It's really starting to sink in that we'll be meeting our tiny love sometime in the very near future! How exciting!!!! This week, we officially "graduated" from our Childbirth Education class, and we had such a great experience that we're both a little sad that it's over! Here's our cute little certificate of achievement:

Also this week, we're hoping to finish up some more decorating projects in the nursery, and I'm grabbing the last few items to pack in my hospital bag. We're getting close!!! And now for the belly photos:

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a cantaloupe! He's likely weighing in around 5 pounds, and may be getting closer to 19 inches in length.
  • Some research suggests that he's recognizing and reacting to simple songs I sing, and may be more soothed by these familiar tunes if I continue singing them once he's out in the world. Crazy!
  • This week seems to be marking a transition in my 3rd trimester experience, as I'm just now starting to understand what folks mean when they say this is the hardest phase. Sleep is ever-elusive, and my body DEFINITELY feels pregnant. I'm pretty lucky to have a husband who doesn't mind giving me daily back rubs! :)

Showered with Love!

Alex and I both feel so incredibly blessed to have so many enthusiastically supportive friends and family who love our sweet boy more than he can even imagine. It has been so much fun to connect with everyone over the past few weeks to celebrate our excitement about sweet baby K, and we are extraordinarily thankful for the outpouring of love our little family has received at each of our baby showers. We spent last weekend back in my hometown of Lafayette, IN celebrating our little one once again. My mom and sister completely outdid themselves hosting a super cute and fun shower at a local café. We played lots of fun games and ate a delicious lunch and some amazing gluten-free cake, and I'm so thankful for the friends and family that joined in the fun! And of course I'm grateful for all of the fun goodies we received for baby K too! Unfortunately, I forgot my camera, so here are some phone photos of the event:

The table settings had super cute stuffed animals and balloons with sweet books to start baby K's personal collection.

Thank you so much to my wonderful family & friends for joining in the celebration!

And a HUGE thank you to my incredible mama and sister for making me and baby K feel so special. :)

33 Weeks!

I really can't believe we're already at the 33-week point!!! Just a few more weeks until we get to meet our sweet boy!!!

This week's updates:
  • Baby K is the size of a durian! (between 4 & 5 pounds, and between 17 & 19 inches long)
  • His bones are hardening and he's keeping his eyes open when he's awake!
  • I'm still not especially hungry most of the time, and I'm still having a hard time sleeping at night, but I know this is par for the course at this point in pregnancy. This makes me even more excited to welcome our sweet one into the world soon!!! :)

Welcome to the World, Baby K!

Alex and I are so thankful that we got to spend the weekend in Minnesota with our dear friends and family celebrating baby K's imminent arrival! We so sincerely appreciate everyone who came to celebrate with us, and we feel so blessed by everyone's support. We are grateful for all of the thoughtful goodies baby K received, and we really appreciate all of the hard work and effort our loved ones put in to hosting this shower for us. Special thanks to Connie, Rachael, Laura, & Anna for all that they did to make this celebration so great! Here are some photos from the event:
